The “13th International Conference on Bio-based Materials” will be held ONLINE this year on 12-13 May 2020

Due to the Corona crisis, this year's conference will unfortunately not be able to take place in the usual and appreciated form. Our conference has established itself as one of the most important expert meetings in Europe on the topic of bio-based building blocks and polymers. It is not an option for us to cancel the conference or postpone it until autumn. Especially in times of crisis, our sector needs exchange.

That is why we have decided to host the conference online this year. We have just had very good experiences with the online version of our “Conference on Carbon Dioxide as Feedstock for Fuels, Chemistry and Polymers”: On three days 50 speakers gave their presentations online and the 170 participants asked almost 200 questions, of which all could be discussed. The reactions of the participants and speakers were extremely positive and everyone was delighted that we offered this form of exchange.

This experience encourages us to make “13th International Conference on Bio-based Materials” an equally successful online event. The always highly anticipated innovation award “Bio-based Material of the Year” will as always be elected by the participants on the first day of the conference. Six promising candidates out of 17 applications have already been nominated by the advisory board. In the week of 14 April we will present the new online programme, the ticket for the two day event will be available for just 395 €. Be there and don't miss this unique and high-profile exchange in May!

Success Stories and Upcoming Technological Breakthroughs in the Bioeconomy.

One of the leading conferences on bio-based building blocks and polymers world wide, 200 participants expected.

Despite the challenging environment, innovative companies find markets for their new bio-based building blocks, chemicals and polymers. We will introduce you to the success stories and upcoming technological breakthroughs our planet needs for a sustainable future. Bio-based polymers can be found in almost all application sectors, such as packaging, consumer goods, toys, automotive, textiles or coating. New bio-based building blocks are also available for body care, cosmetics, food ingredients and pharmaceuticals. On top of that, more and more biogenic side streams from the food industry are utilised via biotechnology as part of the circular bioeconomy.

The conference will focus on a number of key issues: The wide range of fine chemicals in body care, cosmetics, food ingredients and pharmaceuticals, biorefineries and especially lignin utilisation, which is facing technological breakthroughs, and finally the opportunities and risks arising worldwide from new legal frameworks to limit the negative consequences of conventional plastics. How can this become an opportunity for bio-based polymers? Every year the Innovation Award “Bio-based Material of the Year” is given to the most innovative material and product on the market. In 2020, six companies will be nominated by an expert jury, out of which the winner will be chosen by the conference participants. Join one of the biggest B2B events of the year and experience the most exciting new developments and strategies in bioeconomy. We will introduce you to the success stories and upcoming technological breakthroughs our planet needs for a sustainable future.
