BBIA, advancing the UK circular bioeconomy
Welcome to the Bio-based and Biodegradable Industries Association (BBIA), representing companies involved in the production of biodegradable polymers and finished products for the benefit of the environment.
Our members’ activities span a wide range of sectors and applications, providing a range of sustainable solutions that benefit both businesses and individual consumers. BBIA aims to develop the circular bioeconomy in the UK, promoting markets and production of bio-based and biodegradable chemicals, their transformation into consumer and other products and materials.
With increasing pressure to keep fossil fuels in the ground, bio-based alternatives can bridge the gap to meet demand. This can be done through the use of starch and glucose derivatives, as well as fibre reinforcements, including flax, hemp, sisal, jute and wood regenerated cellulose. The production of new biomaterials is opening up opportunities, creating jobs and wealth in the new green economy.
The potential for bio-based solutions to contribute to the UK economy is skyrocketing.
BBIA’s mission is to unite those working in the biodegradable and bio-based industries and to develop partnerships with those who share our vision: to put the bioeconomy agenda at the centre of the political debate on sustainability and economic growth in the UK.
To open up opportunities and standards in the emerging green economy market, BBIA will work with companies and organisations involved in the production of bio-based and biodegradable chemicals and polymers for the benefit of the environment.
