C.A.R.M.E.N. e.V. (Central Agricultural Raw Materials Marketing- and Energy-Network), founded in July 1992, is a non-profit organisation working in the field of biomass, renewables and resource economics. Since 2001 it is part of the Competence Centre for Renewable Raw Materials in Straubing.
More than 70 members belong to the C.A.R.M.E.N-association, for exam-ple industrial and farmers´ associations, large and small companies as well as the government of Bavaria.
The mission of C.A.R.M.E.N. is to promote research, studies, development and use of renewable raw materials and renewable energies. It provides services for interested individuals as well as companies, organizations and public institutions concerning all matters of renewable resources and energies.
C.A.R.M.E.N. is engaged in public relations and also presents an inhouse exhibition of about 500 products based on biomass offering information about renewable resources and energies. Furthermore it arranges about 30 seminars per year and operates an extensive website about the mentioned topics on www.carmen-ev.de.
Though founded by the Bavarian government, the C.A.R.M.E.N. activities nowadays spread beyond the Bavarian borders. Since its beginning, C.A.R.M.E.N. has coordinated, guided and evaluated most of the biomass projects financially supported by the state of Bavaria.
