UBC BioProducts Institute

Canada’s University of British Columbia (UBC) is one of the world’s leading academic centres for bioeconomy research. UBC Bioproducts Institute (BPI) represents more than 40 researchers working on fundamental knowledge and applications from the seed genetics to cutting-edge bio-refining technologies, thermochemical and bio-conversion pathways and novel bio-based products. UBC’s BPI is working on the development of advanced materials using key enabling nanotechnologies, nanocelluloses and lignin based fibers to mention a few. The differentiating factor of Bioeconomy Research at UBC is it’s piloting scale facilities and the high level of internal and external collaborations, with researchers and practitioners combining knowledge throughout a fully integrated ‘seeds to solutions’.
